Jovanović Confers with New Ambassador of Azerbaijan

During the meeting, the high level of bilateral relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan was reaffirmed, underpinned by traditional friendship, mutual respect and the strategic partnership between the two countries. The interlocutors underscored the importance of further advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

State Secretary Jovanović expressed her gratitude for Azerbaijan’s consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations, emphasising the importance Serbia attaches to Azerbaijan’s principled position on this issue.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for further strengthening economic relations and expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and investment.

State Secretary Jovanović wished Ambassador Taghizade every success during his tenure in the Republic of Serbia, expressing her confidence that his engagement would contribute to further deepening the friendly relations and cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
